What is Assistive Technology?
Assistive Technology is defined as any tool, item, software, product system or equipment which is used to level the playing field for those who have a learning disability. It helps to increase, maintain or improve their functional capability. A tool that is used to make the students environment more accessible and enhances their individual productivity is also seen as an assistive technology.

When a student uses assistive technology and can participate and contribute to their learning, they will acquire more confidence. Their attitude and behavior may change in a positive way and become happier and their behavior will improve. Feelings of frustration often begin to dissipate.
